Lady Of The Roses by GreyMoccasin Lady Of The Roses by GreyMoccasin
A darkness overtaking,
surrounding one's heart like a coming storm...
She arrives, ironclad and perfumed with the fragrance of rose petals,
Just to say goodbye...

I had to come and revisit this piece. I am still amazed! You are a dear, genuine person my friend, that happens to do fantastic art!

:rose: Ah, thank you, M'dear. Over the years, and now with the benefit of hindsight, I feel this was a symbolic vision of my birth mother. I
can barely remember her except for all her wonderful storytelling and singing of songs. And her perfume. (Shalimar, methinks.)
Never will forget that beautiful fragrance. A dream of intense loss, I suppose. But at least there are good memories to hold onto, yes?

Anyway, thank you again for the lovely comments and support.

:rose: Many thanks, M'dear.
This work was very special. A very primitive instinct voiced in this indeed.

One of the most unusual dreams I've ever experienced, most assuredly. Amazing how
quickly one recovers the ability to dream after returning to and walking through
peaceful museums surrounded by the art of others. The end of a very long drought
at last. :)
Thank you for stopping to have a look. :thanks:

I want to see more, much and much more :giggle: This is wonderful. I like the effect with the repeating eye. I also like the 'unexpected' details like the paperclip for example. The feathers are a wonderful contrast and give something extra to the overal look of your artwork. Keep up the good work, as always very appreciated

Ah, John, thank you for the comments on the work. I'm gratified the little elements of the eyes and feathers could be seen also
and am so pleased you commented on them. Indeed, I shall continue studies and hope to improve more and more with each piece.
Thank you for the fav as well. Very much appreciated! :thanks:

Wow this is very interesting! I like the feathers and the way you changed her eye to have it looking in a different direction. And all the little things you added, is that a violin I see?

Appreciate the comment very much. :thanks: Something my subconscious tinkered together and sprung upon me one night. Too much late night reading and pre-study for that Dali exhibit visit upcoming perhaps...

Indeed, yes, that one lone eye was an amazing part of it all. The only really mobile aspect to the specter in fact. Jade green, liquid and overly bright; simultaneously peering both within and without. The face itself very much resembled a child's painted paper mask with only one eyehole punched through. A bit disturbing as the eye swept to and fro so unnaturally in the "mask." Not frightening, really, simply strange.

Another interesting aspect was that nothing was truly anchored in place. Everything, background mass included, all floated in layers one above or beside the other and stayed in position only because of sheer will of existence within the whole of it all! Oh, and no, actually no violin was intended, but now, looking at it again, it does resemble the shape as you say. LOL

Methinks I really must refrain from studies just before falling asleep... ;)

Thank you for the lovely comment. And thanks for posting up those tutorial links in your journals.
Found Staldren's wonderful tut through one of them in fact. :rose:
